CS with ZAK is an independent website created by a teacher. It is not affiliated with, operated by, sponsored by, approved by or endorsed by Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Cambridge International Education (formerly Cambridge Assessment International Education), the University of Cambridge, or any examination board or school. “Cambridge”, “Cambridge International”, “Cambridge O Level”, “Cambridge IGCSE”, “Cambridge International AS & A Level” and the syllabus codes are used only to identify the qualifications the site helps you study for. See Copyright, Trademarks & Takedown.

The notes, topic pages, code examples, quizzes, flashcards, model questions, infographics, glossary, command-words guide, pseudocode ↔ Python guide, video lectures and the answers given by AskZ are ZAK's teaching interpretation of the Cambridge 2210 / 0478 / 9618 syllabuses. They are prepared with care and checked, but:

• they may contain errors, simplifications or omissions;
• AskZ Smart Notes and ZAK Assignments are written by AI from ZAK's material, the syllabus and past papers, once per topic, and are not reviewed line by line by a person before they appear — they are labelled as such, and anything surprising in them should be checked against the syllabus and mark scheme before you rely on it;
• older video lectures may follow an earlier version of a syllabus (for example 9608 before 9618) — the topic page tells you which syllabus section a video covers;
• they may lag behind syllabus changes, new specimen material or new examiner reports;
• mark-scheme wording is paraphrased and abbreviated for teaching, and marks awarded in a real exam depend on the examiner's judgement of your full answer;
• code examples are written to teach a concept, not as production software.

Where anything on this site differs from the current official syllabus, specimen papers, mark schemes, examiner reports or the Pseudocode Guide for Teachers published by Cambridge, the Cambridge document is correct. Please tell us when you find a discrepancy; we fix them quickly and note significant corrections on the page.

The pseudocode playground implements the official pseudocode guide as faithfully as we can, but it is an independent implementation, not Cambridge's. A program that runs here may still lose marks in an exam for presentation, and a program marked wrong here may be acceptable to an examiner. The Python Playground runs real CPython in your browser, but without third-party packages and with a step limit, so a program that works on your computer may need small changes. The Java Playground compiles with the real javac, but runs on TeaVM's class library, which covers what exam programs use (Scanner, files, collections, formatting) and not desktop-only Java (Swing, threads, networking); the VB.NET Playground uses Microsoft's compiler and .NET libraries, without Windows Forms, MsgBox or InputBox. The SQL Lab implements the subset of SQL the syllabuses examine, with examiner-style error messages — it is not MySQL or SQLite, and real databases accept things it rejects (and vice versa). The Assembler & CPU simulator implements the 9618 appendix instruction set, which is a teaching model, not a real processor; the Declarative Lab covers the Prolog features the syllabus uses. Quiz marking, trace tables, the logic-gates lab, the number converter, assignment self-marking against the model answers and AskZ's “mark my answer” are aids to practice, not official assessment.

The Exam Planner shows Cambridge administrative zones, Key Times and paper dates transcribed from Cambridge's published timetables, and guesses your zone from your device's time-zone. Cambridge can change timetables; centres can set different start times within Key Time rules; we can make transcription mistakes. Your school or exam centre's statement of entry and timetable are the only authoritative source of when your papers are. Never rely on the planner alone.

Past-paper PDFs are linked from third-party hosts (PapaCambridge and, for a few sessions, BestExamHelp) and syllabus PDFs from Cambridge's own site. We do not control those files: they may move, be withdrawn, be incomplete or differ from the version your school uses. Availability of a session's papers depends on Cambridge's release schedule. The exam-question tool shows question extracts, mark-scheme points and the examiner's comments for study, with topic tags assigned by a classifier that can misfile a question; always work from the complete original paper before an exam.

The Statometer (/statometer and each topic page) is computed by software from that question bank: how often a topic or syllabus bullet has been set, a recency-weighted estimate of the chance it appears in the next paper, its typical marks and its assessment-objective mix. These are statistics about past papers, not a prediction of the next one — Cambridge does not publish per-topic weightings beyond the syllabus, can set any topic in any session, and the sub-topic and AO tags are our own estimates. Use it to order your revision, never to skip a syllabus section.

Statements about grades on this site (for example that students “routinely secure A*s”) describe past outcomes of ZAK's own classes and testimonials volunteered by students; they are not a promise about you. Your grade depends on your own study, your school, your exam performance and Cambridge's marking and grade thresholds. Nothing on this site — including anything AskZ says — is a guarantee, prediction or offer of a particular grade.

Content about universities, careers, admissions, visas, fees or scholarships (on the blog, in testimonials or from AskZ) is general information from a computer-science teacher, not professional academic, legal, immigration or financial advice. Check with the institution concerned.

Links to and content from YouTube, Facebook, Discord, Blogger, GitHub, WhatsApp, PapaCambridge, BestExamHelp, Cambridge, the app stores and other sites are provided for convenience. A link is not an endorsement. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, security or privacy practices of any external site or of comments left on our social channels by others.

We take accuracy seriously. Report an error by email, on WhatsApp, or by asking AskZ to “report a mistake on this page” (it will hand you the contact details). Factual corrections to notes, quizzes and flashcards are made in place; where a correction changes an answer students may already have learnt, we note it on the page for a while. The blog keeps an “updated” date on edited posts.
