New animation for Algorithm Design and Problem-Solving
New on the Algorithm Design and Problem-Solving page: Visual decomposition of a system into sub-systems via an animated hierarchy tree. (The program development life cycle). Made by AskZ's Examiner Agent and published only after the site's own diagram checks passed.
Paper Builder: one sentence, and the preview is the paper
Type "mid-term on topics 3 to 5, 50 marks, Friday 2 pm, half AskZ" and the steps fill themselves. The paper you check before Build is exactly the paper you get, and New draw avoids questions you already set to a class. AskZ's questions pass three readings before you see them, a strict exam marks ticks, tables, loops and circuits exactly, and a dropped-out student rejoins with one press.
Teaching from a past paper on a projector or a shared screen? Tap Laser (or press L) and point anywhere on the page. Press and hold to switch between a glowing spot and a fading line. Nothing underneath is clicked while it is on.
Past-paper marking: a second reading by today's examiner
Older mark schemes leave implied what recent ones print as rows, so a lenient mark on an old question could mislead you. When AskZ marks a written answer it now reads every credited point again against eight current examiner conventions, each taken from a named Cambridge paper. The official mark stays; a point today's examiner would refuse is tagged, with the paper that says so.
On an iPad or an Android tablet ZAPP now uses the bigger screen: a side rail instead of the bottom tabs, notes and lessons at a comfortable reading width, and the Playground's editor and results side by side.
Set any Paper Builder paper as a strict exam. Only signed-in students can sit it, once, on one device, against a clock that never stops — with no mark scheme, no AskZ and no copy and paste. AskZ marks every answer against the official scheme; you check, adjust and release the results.
XP is now worked out from what you actually did — topics, quizzes, marked past-paper questions, flashcards, programs and games — with a daily limit, so a level is something you earned. Past-paper marks turn into XP on their own the moment a part is marked, and follow any re-mark.
Mocks, mid-terms and short tests are now chosen as one paper rather than topic by topic: your topic shares, every topic you ticked, Cambridge's assessment-objective mix, wide syllabus coverage and questions from different sittings. The PDF looks like the real paper too.
Taking Paper 4 in Java or VB.NET? Learn it one numbered step at a time, like the Python Paths: each small program is compiled by the real compiler in your browser and checked against tests, some hidden, and your place is saved.
Your dashboard now shows how your week compares with other students on your level: the days you studied, your quiz accuracy, past-paper questions, study-route sections and topics completed. It is anonymous — only rounded ranges leave your device, never your name — and you can turn it off.
Your study route: the whole syllabus, one section at a time
Pick your level and follow every syllabus section in order: read the notes, watch a lecture, pass a 5-question check, then flashcards and real past-paper questions. A chapter test closes each topic, and a 10-minute check first tells you where to begin.
Coming back? The home page now opens on one red Continue with your level, your next paper and your streak in one quiet line, and today's three tasks folded underneath. New here? Pick your level and press Start learning. The site tour and the live code demo share one window: Watch or Try it.
