Four papers, one series
Each paper is a quarter of the A Level. The AS papers carry the same content as for an AS-only candidate. The difference is that you sit all four in the same exam series.

1. AS Level only
Papers 1 & 2
Both AS papers in the same exam series. Graded a–e.
2. A Level, staged over two years
1 & 2, then 3 & 4
AS in year 1, then Papers 3 & 4 in a later series; the AS marks are carried forward (Cambridge Handbook rules and time limits).
3. A Level in one seriesYou
Papers 1–4
All four papers in the same exam series. Graded A*–E. This is Full A Level.
Study them as pairs
Every A2 topic except Artificial Intelligence extends an AS one. If you have one year for both halves, study each A2 topic straight after its AS partner, while the AS part is still fresh.
