Set the work. AskZ marks it. You release it.
Classroom is ZAK's own online classroom for Cambridge O Level / IGCSE (2210 · 0478) and AS & A Level (9618) Computer Science. Every hand-in is marked at once against the mark scheme, part by part, and held on your desk. Nothing reaches a student until you say so.

How marking works
From hand-in to released marks.
AskZ does the first reading in seconds. The marks then wait for you.
- 1Student hands inTyped answers, a photo of handwriting, a file or a quiz.
- 2AskZ marks itEvery part, at once, against the mark scheme, point by point.
- 3Held on your deskThe student sees only that it was handed in. Unsure marks go first.
- 4You check itChange any mark, add comments, or return it for another try.
- 5You releaseTo the class or to one student. AskZ marks stay labelled.
- Nothing passes until you release.
After release a student can ask for a re-mark of a part, with a reason. It comes back to your desk and you decide.
You stay in control
AskZ marks first. You have the last word.
Teachers are right to distrust an AI mark that is final. In Classroom it never is.
Nothing is released without you
Held is the default for every piece of work. You release to the whole class or to one student. If you want a quick quiz to release by itself, you switch that on for that one piece of work.
Every mark can be changed
Change the mark of any part and add a note. Your mark is the one that counts.
Every AI mark is labelled
Students see “Marked by AskZ (AI), checked and released by your teacher” on each one, with the marking points that were met.
The unsure ones come first
Photos of handwriting, parts with no mark scheme and marks AskZ was less sure of open at the top of your desk.
Students can ask for a re-mark
Once for a part, with a reason. It lands on your desk. You answer and you may change the mark.
Every change is on the record
The log of a piece of work shows who changed a mark, when, from what and to what.
Regulators have said that AI should not be the only marker of a student's work. In Classroom it never is: a teacher reads, changes and releases.
What is in it
One place for the whole class.
Homework, tests, marks, lessons and live classes, built around the syllabus you teach.
Work of every kind
- A paper from the Paper Builder
- A ready assignment set for any topic
- Past-paper questions you pick
- Your own questions with marking points
- Quick quizzes
- Photo or file hand-ins
- “Do this on the site” tasks
Set it for the whole class or for chosen students. Give it an opening date, a due date and a closing date. Choose a late rule and the number of attempts. Give one student extra days when they need them.
The marking desk
Every student and every part on one screen: the answer, AskZ's mark with the points it gave, and the mark scheme beside it. A comment bank saves typing.
Gradebook
Weights by category. Late, missing and excused states worked out from the dates. A trend for each student and a CSV when you need one.
Course page
Your scheme of work for each class. Sections and lessons in order, with notes and links to topics and tools on the site. Students tick lessons done.
News, inbox and calendar
Announcements on the class page. An inbox and emails when work is set, due or returned. A calendar feed for due dates and live classes.
Parents see class work
A parent the student has invited sees what is coming up, what is missing and the released marks in the parent view. Never the answers.
It works with what is already here
The Paper Builder, strict exams and class lists are part of the site today. Classroom uses the same classes, so nothing about joining changes.
Live classes
Teach live, in our room or yours.
Use the built-in room, or keep the Zoom, Google Meet or Teams link your class already knows.
A built-in room
It opens in the browser from the class page. There is nothing to install.
Zoom, Google Meet or Teams
Paste your link when you schedule the class. Students join from the class page.
The register fills itself in
The built-in room records who joined and for how long. With a pasted link, students check in as they join. You can change any cell and download the register.
Recordings as links
Add the recording link after class. Recording is your choice and the join page tells students when a class is recorded.
On the class calendar
Schedule a class once or every week. Each session appears on the calendar feed beside the due dates.
Who does what
Your time goes on teaching, not on first marking.
A plain split of the work. AskZ takes the first reading. The judgement stays with you.

Classroom sits beside the rest of the site. These are ZAK's own books, notes and classes. The notes are free. The books, classes and Success Packs are arranged with the team.

FAQ
Straight answers.
What teachers, students and parents ask first.
Is the AI mark final?
No. AskZ marks every hand-in first and the marks are held on your desk. You can change the mark of any part, and your mark is the one that counts. Nothing reaches a student until you release it. After release a student can ask for a re-mark, and you decide.
What does a student see before I release?
Only that the work was handed in and that the teacher will return it. No mark, no comment and no mark scheme. You choose for each piece of work whether the mark scheme is shown with the released marks.
Who sees my students' work?
You, and the student who wrote it. AskZ reads it in order to mark it. Classmates never see each other's work, marks or email addresses. A parent the student has invited sees upcoming work, missing work and released marks, never the answers. The Privacy Policy has the detail.
What does it cost?
There is no price on the site and nothing is sold here. A licence is arranged with the admissions team, for one teacher, sized by how many students you teach. You can ask about a trial term. Students never pay, in any class.
Do students need to install anything?
No. Classroom runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer. A student needs a free account and the class code. The built-in live room also opens in the browser.
Does it work with Zoom?
Yes. Paste a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams link when you schedule a class and students join from the class page. They check in as they join, so the register is still filled in. You can also teach in the built-in room, which records who joined and for how long.
Can AskZ mark handwriting?
Yes. A student can add a photo of handwritten work to a part and AskZ marks it against the mark scheme. Photo parts are always put first on your desk so that you can check them.
What if I disagree with a mark?
Change it and add a note. You can also ask AskZ to mark the part again, or return the work to the student for another try. Every change is kept in the log of that piece of work.
Does marking use up a student's AskZ allowance?
No. Marking belongs to the teacher's licence, which carries its own monthly marking allowance. If the allowance runs out in a month, new hand-ins wait for marking and you can mark them by hand.
What happens when a licence ends?
Students keep read access to their released work and marks. You still see everything, read only, with a note about renewing. Nothing new can be set until the licence is live again. Nothing is deleted because a licence ended.
Which syllabuses does it cover?
Cambridge O Level / IGCSE (2210 · 0478) and AS & A Level (9618) Computer Science. The question bank, the assignment sets and the mark schemes all follow those syllabuses.
I am a head of department. How does my school get it?
A department is arranged through the school licence. Start on the For schools page, or message the admissions team and say how many Computer Science teachers you have.
Will my students be shown ZAK's classes?
No. In an outside teacher's class, students see only ZAK's books, workbooks and notes for their level, on the class page. They are never shown his tuition or Success Packs. It can be switched off for a licence on request. In ZAK's own classes students see all of it. Nothing is shown while a student is answering or in a live class.
Does Classroom predict grades?
No. It reports the marks on the work you set, by question and by topic. It never gives a predicted grade.
Is Classroom in the ZAPP app?
Not yet. Classroom works in the browser today. The student side is planned for the ZAPP apps and we have not set a date.
Is Classroom a Cambridge product?
No. Classroom is made by CS with ZAK. It follows the Cambridge syllabuses and uses real past-paper questions with their credit lines. It is not endorsed by Cambridge.
Try it with one class.
Ask about a trial term. The admissions team replies on WhatsApp, and nothing is bought on the site.
