A2 §20.1 Object-oriented programming

ZAK's OOP Designer

Paper 4 asks it both ways: draw the class diagram for this code and write the class definition for this diagram. Describe the classes in a few lines and the designer draws the diagram — three compartments, − and +, the inheritance arrow, containment — and writes the skeleton in pseudocode, Python, VB.NET or Java using the Translator. Or paste pseudocode classes and see the diagram they describe.

Example library

  • A single class 2

Attributes, constructor, getters and setters — encapsulation

  • Inheritance 2

    Superclass and subclasses, SUPER.NEW, overriding

  • Polymorphism 1

The same method name behaving differently per subclass

  • Containment 2

A class with an attribute that is another object

  • Read the code → draw the diagram 2

Pseudocode classes to turn into a class diagram
