Connect Classroom to your school's systems
LTI 1.3 from your school's learning platform, OneRoster class lists, released marks to grade columns and xAPI stores, a read-only API token, and QTI quiz export. Held marks never leave.
8 steps about 5 min Teachers
Open ConnectionsSteps
Step 1: Give the platform administrator Classroom's addresses
Where: Your console → Connections → Your school's learning platform
Open ConnectionsCopy the login, launch, deep linking and key set addresses into the platform's tool settings. Ask for the user's email and name, scores (Assignment and Grade Services), course lists (Names and Role Provisioning) and Deep Linking, and set the tool to open in a new window. Connections come with a paid or school licence.
Step 2: Register the platform
Where: Connections → Register a platform
Paste the issuer, client ID, deployment ID and the platform's three addresses exactly as it shows them.
Step 3: Add work to a course
Where: In the platform: add an activity → CS with ZAK Classroom
Classroom opens in a new window: sign in, link your account once, and tick the published work to add. Each one becomes a link and a grade column in the course.
Step 4: Bring in the course's students
Where: Connections → a link → Bring in the course's students
The course list shows as New, On the list or Check. Invite sends invitations, as a pasted list does; each student accepts when they sign in. A student opening the link reaches the work only once they are on your class list.
Step 5: Import a OneRoster export
Where: The class → Students → Add students → OneRoster
Choose the school's OneRoster zip (or its users, enrollments and classes files), pick the class, check the preview and invite the new students. The files are read on your device.
Step 6: Send released marks to the school
Where: Connections → Learning record store (xAPI)
Grade columns fill by themselves when you release marks. For a learning record store, save its address, key and secret, press Test, then switch on each class that should send. Marks released from then on go every ten minutes.
Step 7: Give the school a read-only token
Where: Connections → API tokens → Make a token
Copy the token straight away: it is shown once. The school's system reads each class's gradebook and register as CSV with it, released marks only. Revoke stops it at once.
Step 8: Export a quiz for another system
Where: A quiz's desk → QTI
Saves a QTI 2.1 package that Moodle, Canvas and item banks import. Written answers are marked by hand there. A Cambridge question goes only with its copyright line and paper; one that cannot is left out.
