Set a strict exam and mark it
A controlled, timed room for tests and exams: signed-in students only, one attempt, no mark scheme, no AskZ, no copy and paste. AskZ marks, you check and release.

Open My examsSteps
Step 1: Build the paper
Where: Paper Builder → build a paper → Set as a strict exam
Open this screenAny paper the builder makes: class test, monthly, mid-term or mock, from past papers, AskZ's unseen questions or both.
Step 2: Choose who, when and the rules
Where: Set as a strict exam → 1 Who · 2 When · 3 Rules
A class list (only its students, under the names on the list) or anyone signed in with the room code. Everyone at once with a late-entry window, or within a window. Students see marks after they submit, per locked question, or only when you release; shuffle, full screen and running code are switches. Then Create the exam.
Step 3: Send it — and read out the room code
Where: Copy link · Share to Google Classroom · Copy for WhatsApp / email
The message never contains the room code: read it out or write it on the board when the exam starts.
Step 4: Watch the room
Where: My exams → the exam → Live
Open My examsWho is in the room, time left, locked questions and flags (time away from the tab, leaving full screen, paste attempts, a second device). Give one student or everyone more minutes, reset a student's device if they change laptop, cancel an attempt, or End now. A student whose device froze, restarted or lost its connection shows their lost time with Give back: it adds exactly that time, and only when you press it.
Step 5: Mark
Where: The exam → Marking → a student
Each paper as the student wrote it, AskZ's marks with its point-by-point reasons and the scheme. Exact markers checks ticked boxes and one-word answers; type your own mark for any part and Save my marks; Mark with AskZ marks a part again.
Step 6: Release
Where: The exam → Release results
Students then see their final marks (and the schemes, if you ticked it). Results shows the class by question, topic, sub-topic and AO, with a CSV.
